There are so many ways that members and our supporters can financially contribute to the congregation. In addition to an annual membership commitment, members may contribute to our Annual Giving campaign, a variety of funds designated for different aspects of temple life and our Endowment and Vision Campaign. |

The B'nai Israel Dor L'Dor Endowment Campaign provides opportunities for our donors to sustain our congregation for future generations. Donations to this campaign join together to produce income which is then use to further the congregation's goals. We have three strategies for ensuring our future:
| Unrestricted Endowment |
Income derived from donations is applied to the general operations of B'nai Israel. | |
| Field of Interest Endowments | efasaf | Income from these endowments is directed to broad areas of B'nai Israel's activities (e.g. worship, learning, social action, music, youth...). |
| Program Specific Endowments | Income from these contributions is directed toward specific programs and intiatives within B'nai Israel (e.g. Israel trips, camping, retreats, Mazon, holiday celebrations...). |

Our Friends of B’nai Israel program is for non-members with an affinity and connection to our temple. Many people who live outside the area support Congregation Bnai Israel by their annual contribution to the Friends of B’nai Israel program. The Temple Bulletin is sent to all Friends of B’nai Israel contributing at a level of $36.00 or more.

“THINKING AHEAD:”
LEAVING A LEGACY FOR CONGREGATION B’NAI ISRAEL”
Congregation B’nai Israel is moving ahead with its effort to renovate and to expand our facility. This project is not simply a question of “bricks and mortar.” The drive to create a more functional building is really the catalyst to renew the entire synagogue. Our Temple is almost 150 years old and it is only fitting that we think of how we can best ensure the next 150 years.
“The mission of the Temple is to serve God and the Jewish people by creating a supportive environment which contributes to the education and spiritual growth of its members.” The thrust of our mission is to foster a strong sense of community among our members and with the wider community. When you leave a legacy gift in your will to the Temple, you are providing direct and immediate support to sustain the level of excellence that we have attained during the life of the Temple. There is life after the Vision Campaign. We are not only providing educational and religious services to the entire community, but we are doing what is required to provide varied opportunities for those who choose to live Jewishly. As a premier Jewish institution in the greater Fairfield area, our mission also includes providing these opportunities for those who cannot afford our services. Mentioning B’nai Israel in your will is one important way to enable us to continue to serve and sustain those who are seeking to live Jewishly, but who require some financial assistance along the way.
Your thinking about the future of B’nai Israel by establishing a bequest or by making an outright gift can make all the difference to our membership and to our community. Please consider remembering our Temple as you do your estate planning. For further information, contact the office at (203) 336-1858
GIVING THROUGH YOUR WILL
Congregants at B’nai Israel are well known for volunteering their time and other resources for the benefit of causes in which they believe. Our Vision campaign is the most recent example of the generosity and dedication of our members. As a result all of our lives are enriched. Many people also choose to include the Temple in their long range financial planning. Making an ultimate charitable gift can go hand in hand with preserving economic security for one’s self and for loved ones.
The will is one of the most popular vehicles for making long range gifts. For each mega bequest that we read about there are countless smaller ones that can really make a difference to the continued excellence of Temple programs. Indeed the economic stability of our enterprise can be enhanced enormously by means of charitable bequests. A $10,000 bequest can help to ensure the future of the Temple and will not reduce the preserving of the economic security of loved ones.
Most Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why do I need a will?
A: It provides control over the distribution of your property, and it provides for the financial needs of your family.
Q: Is writing a will costly?
A: Generally, a will does not have to be expensive. In addition, the costs created by not having a valid will are high.
Q: What would happen if I have no will?
A: If you do not have a will, the state determines the distribution of your estate. Some states favor the surviving spouse, while others favor the children. This means that it is unlikely that your wishes will be honored.
Q: Once I have taken care of my family, how can I leave something to my favorite charities?
A: A bequest designates the beneficiaries of your property. The most common types are: a) specific amount; b) percentage of the estate: and, c) residual- what is left after other bequests are met.
Everyone can afford a modest bequest. Synagogues are catalysts for those who want to live Jewishly. For more information about how wills can assist B’nai Israel, For further information, contact the office at (203) 336-1858 .
