Learning how to Respond to Others
Fridays, May 14, 21, 28, June 4 & 11 at Noon
Former HUC- JIR Provost Norman J. Cohen’s Book Hineini in Our Lives, highlights for us the 14 occurrences in the Bible where we find this expression of presence and confirmation. In the akeida, at the burning bush and elsewhere…Dr. Cohen helps us to think about “what it means to stand in covenant with the one power in the universe and grasp the implications of that relationship in the future.” Ilene Haigh, our summer rabbinic intern, will teach the course, through the lens of the exploring and internalizing the Biblical passages and certain midrashic responses as well as modern midrashic writings on this powerful model for living in covenantal relationships.
