Women of Reform Judaism News

wowHello, Sisterhood members.  It is wonderful to be enjoying longer and warmer days. We also look forward to celebrating Yom Yerushalayim, the day we celebrate the reunification of Jerusalem, which took place as a result of our victory in the Six-Day War, which occurring in 1967. Until then, Jews were not permitted to live in or visit the Old City or to pray at the Kotel.

It is hard to imagine this, now, even as we watch the controversy currently occurring at the Kotel, as the political pressures for and against gender segregation increases.  Women of Reform Judaism stands firmly behind Women of the Wall, profoundly aware that gender segregation at the Kotel is more than a hot button topic, but represents many aspects of social justice and equality.

We shall have an update of this fascinating topic, as well as plan our future programming at our next meeting, on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, 7:00 p.m.  We look forward to you joining us, and contributing your voice and your ideas.

Ronnie Dubrowin and Sherry Portnoy
