Mission Statement

Congregation B'nai Israel, founded in 1858, seeks to be a vibrant Reform synagogue dedicated to the perpetuation of Jewish life and values within the framework of contemporary American Judaism. This synagogue strives to serve God and the Jewish people by creating a supportive environment which contributes to the education and spiritual growth of its members and encourages its members to perform meaningful mitzvot. Central to this mission is the fostering of a strong sense of community among an intergenerational and diverse membership. By service to the Jewish community locally, in Israel, and worldwide, as well as to the non-Jewish community, we dedicate ourselves to the concept of Tikun-Olam, the repairing of the world.
